Deny Me And Be Doomed
Developed for the solo exhibition EMOTIONAL CAPITAL, Deny Me and Be Doomed draws from six years of self-invention and the persistent hope that understanding might arrive if one simply remains available long enough. Through figurative paintings and fragments of memory, the series coalesces into a conflicting narrative of deserving love while simultaneously believing oneself to be unlovable—where the search to be seen becomes another source of isolation.
The series entails three large-scale figurative pieces that reference famous historical works, and the 15-piece passel Mythomania.
Mythomania
Uniform in scale and palette but expansive in subject, these fifteen pieces resist a singular story; rather, the chaos is the question. Just like memory, each piece is granted equal significance to the others; tides of tenderness collide with the shores of obscenity, fleeting moments of conversation captured before they disappear. The distinction between profound and ridiculous is left entirely up to interpretation.
Mythomania pieces are available for purchase in my shop.
